



AMANDA McCORGARY
Pre-Kindergarten
This will be Amanda McCorgary's third year of teaching at South Haven. Amanda graduated from Arkansas City High School and attended Cowley County Community College. She earned her teaching degree at Southwestern college. She and her husband, Wade, live on a farm outside Arkansas City with their daughter, Haylee (5 mo. old). Along with her paras, Roberta Byers and Shelly Brown, she is looking forward to a fun and wonderful year of learning.

CATHY CURL
Kindergarten
Cathy Curl lives in Braman with her husband, Jim, and their children, Christa and Patrick who will be seniors this year. This will be Cathy’s ninth year to teach kindergarten at South Haven. However, this will be her twenty-eighth year of teaching students, as she has previously taught first, second, third and fourth graders in Kansas and Oklahoma. Mrs. Curl is excited about teaching the new kindergarten students this year!

RENA PARCHER
First Grade
This will be Rena’s twenty-sixth year of teaching first grade at South Haven School. She lives in Braman, OK with her husband Carl who owns and operates the South Haven L-P Gas and Fuel Company. Rena has four children: Matt, who is in the Air Force and stationed in California; Chris, who is attending school at K-State in Salina to become a commercial pilot; Jacob, who will be attending Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa; and Erikah, who will be a seventh grader this coming year.

HEATHER SCHMIDT
Second Grade
This is Heather’s fifth year to teach at South Haven and her thirteenth year of teaching. Heather and her husband, Jeff, reside in Wellington. She has been busy this summer working on the farm and spending time with her family.

VALERIE BRADFIELD
Third Grade
This is Valerie’s second year of teaching at South Haven. Valerie earned her teaching degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. She lives in Blackwell, OK and is looking forward to an exciting school year.

DANA RICHARDS
Fourth Grade
Dana Richards is the fourth grade teacher. She is beginning her twenty-third year of teaching here with the first thirteen and a half years as the Title I teacher. Mrs. Richards lives in Braman with her husband, Dana. She has one daughter, Jordyn, who is planning to attend NOC this fall. She also has two sons, Jared, a junior, and Jonnie, a sixth grader her at South Haven. The Richards family is joined on the farm by three dogs, two cats, and six chickens. Mrs. Richards is looking forward to an exciting year of learning!

KISTIN HARRIS
Fifth Grade
Kistin Harris will begin her seventeenth year of teaching. She has taught Title I, 4th, 6th, and 7th grade, and is happily starting her eighth year teaching the 5th grade. Mrs. Harris enjoys reading, working outside in the yard, and watching her children, Justin, 9th grade; Lucas 6th grade; and Karalyn 2nd grade, play sports or do other activities. The Harris family lives on a farm east of town with pigs, goats, cats, dogs and a horse. Mrs. Harris welcomes the fifth graders back to school for a great year!

KATHY FLAHERTY
K-5 Music
Kathy graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK and has taught for the past nineteen years in music. This is her first year of teaching at South Haven where she will be shared with Caldwell. She and her husband, Tim, reside in Medford, OK and they have two sons, Ryan, a veteran of the air force and Tyler, who is currently serving in the Oklahoma National Guard.

SULINDA FOGLE
K-6 IRC
Sulinda has taught for fifteen years at Dodge city Middle School before coming to Caldwell where she has been a para for ten years. She earned her degree at Southwestern College and is currently working towards her masters there as well. This will be Sulinda’s second year of teaching special education at South Haven. She and her husband, William, reside in Caldwell. She has one son, Henry, who is attending college in Colorado Springs, CO. Along with her paras, Sharon Deyoe and Lori Fair, she is excited to work with the students this year.

LYNN JAMES
Title I
Lynn James will be returning this fall as the Title I teacher. She was formerly the elementary special education teacher employed by Interlocal 619 for the past 33 years. This is her third year to work for both the Interlocal and USD 509. Along with the Title I para, Christy Kelly, and the At Risk paras Tess Dvorak, Danielle Schuster, and Annette Broyles, she is looking forward to serving the students again this year.
