 Welcome to my web site!

The South Haven Science and Engineering Fair is Thursday, January 28, 2010.

I have ordered Display boards & supplies in order to make it more convenient and less costly for you.  If you would like to purchase supplies from the school the prices are as follows:

White Display Board  $2.50                   Color Display Board $3.00

White Header Board  $1.00                   Color Header Board $1.25

Project Titles            $0.75                   Adhesive Backed Titles (Stickers) $2.00

If your project qualifies, you will get to go on to regional competition.  The Regional Science and Engineering Fair is at Exploration Place in Wichita, Ks on Friday, Feb. 26 from 10am-5pm and Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10am-1pm.  This is the link to the Regional Science Fair Information:  http://www.exploration.org/sci_fair.php it has good links and the forms to fill out if you have lost the hard copy I gave you.  Remember:  Entry forms MUST be filled out BEFORE our local science fair!

If your project qualifies from regional competition, you will get to go on to state competition.  The Kansas State Science Fair is March 26-27th at Friends University, Wichita, KS in the William Penn Science Building.

The Official Kansas State Science and Engineering Fair Website is: http://www.neosho.edu/kssciencefair/kansasstatescifair.htm.  It has several good links as well as all the required forms, rules, and judging criteria for the science fair.

Click on the SCIENCE GALLERY on the TOP LEFT of the page to see pictures of last years winners and projects that were at the State Science Fair.

For suggestions from choosing a topic to the final report see the Web site "Surviving Science Fair" at http://discoveryschool.com/sciencefaircentral/elmers/.

http://www.societyforscience.org/isef/about/rules_regulations.asp  contains rules and guidelines for the International Science Fair.

If you look closely at the bottom of the page you will find the JUDGES FORM that we will use at South Haven.  It is closely modeled after the State Judges Form.  You can click on it to download it.

You can also click below on a selection of the Kansas State Science Standards for grades 5-7 below. (I did not include 8th grade standards which are higher.)   I condensed the 80+ standards that we are required to learn to only 3 pages to help you answer the question “Why do I need to do a Science Fair Project?”.  There are several project ideas, some really good tips for good projects, things to look for and things to be sure to include in your project.

Below are some helpful links that other students have found that work at school:

The following are the notes that a student took in class when I was talking about how to do a SF project and emailed to me.  I thought I'd post it here in case parents needed more information:
