The Transition Board of USD 360/509 met after facilities tours of USD’s 360 and 509. Those members in attendance were Glennis Zimmerman, Cliff Risley, Todd Ray, Gage Overall, Amy Brown, Amy Futhey and Laurie Walta. Also present were Kim White, Alan Jamison, Jim Bolden, Vicki Burdett (who acted as clerk), Suzie Bacon and Cindy Blunk.
After approval of the agenda, the Board elected officers for the transition board: Glennis Zimmerman – President and Cliff Risley – Vice President. Other members are Todd Ray, Gage Overall, Amy Futhey, Amy Brown and Laurie Walta.
Alan Jamison gave a brief report about Dr. G. Kent Stewart’s facilities study. Glennis Zimmerman added that Dr. Stewart felt both buildings would hold any configuration that would be needed and that he would have a report by the first week of April.
A map of students in both districts was reviewed by the board and will be on display at South Haven Schools.
Alan Jamison reviewed information with the Board information about House Bill 2739.
The first Community Advisory Meeting will be held Monday, March 29, 2010 in the commons area at South Haven Schools and will take place from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The meeting will be facilitated by Gary Flory. The Board discussed having an open house in both districts on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. The Board would like to have the following discussed at the first community Advisory Committee:
School Programs which are important to continue
Transportation Issues
Middle School/Junior High concept
A walk through for the committee
Current class offerings for both districts
Open House on April 11, 2010
The next meeting for the Transition Board of USD 360/509 was set for Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in the USD 360 District Offices.
