Bullying was shared on multiple surveys as an area of concern. Specifically, the perception that nothing is being done along with no follow up on reported issues. USD 509 administration and staff do take bullying very seriously and address each reported instance, but oftentimes this does not get communicated and specific processes/steps are not visible to our patrons.
- To improve this area, we are working to make our strategies and support for bullying visible through the updating of our USD 509 webpage section dedicated to Bullying. This process has started and includes sharing of visuals that explain the processes we follow, consequences that come from verified bullying investigations, and resources that can help everyone navigate a suspected bullying situation and understand what to do next. This part of our website is under construction and as soon as it is complete, I will post again to share this information with you.
